Home / BlogGoogle Launches Disavow Links Tool
October 17, 2012

Has your website been negatively affected from spammy links?  Google has a new tool in Webmaster Tools that allows sites that have been attacked from spam links to submit a request to Google to disavow the spam link(s).  This is great for Webmaster that have been affected from negative SEO attacks.

However, this tool should be used with caution.  Matt Cutts has stated that the webmaster should first contact the webmaster to manually remove the link, if that doesn’t work, then you can use the disavow tool and have Google take a look at the spam links.  SEO conspire theorist think that this is a ploy for Google to collect data to gain a better understanding of what spam links website criteria consists of.  Overall, this is a great tool for those who practice white hat SEO and have suffered from black hat attacks.
